It’s Christmas again- the first one since the accident that killed Janice’s father. For a preteen misfit, solace lies in headless dolls and visits from a flying Justin Timberlake, while Mother makes elaborate dinners for no one and confesses her fears to Harrison Ford. Under a decaying roof with a voice all its own, mother and daughter are caught in an endless loop of holiday rituals, while The Apartment begs for their care lest he be forced to take action on his own terms. Janice and Justin have a plan of their own, though, that promises to break the loop in their lives… one way or another. With her signature dark humor, Sheila Callaghan’s ingenious language sculpts a narrative of an aftermath that is irreverently odd, acutely genuine, and absurdly hilarious.

★★★ "AJ Ware's staging for Jackalope manages to find most of the dark whimsy in Callaghan's piece while allowing moments of honest connection."

Nina Metz, Chicago Tribune

★★★ "Callaghan's 2005 work might be a touch too clever for its own good, but director AJ Ware's Jackalope Theatre Company production matches it at every turn."

Highly Recommended! "Sheila Callaghan’s text and AJ Ware’s keen direction – matched with fine performances and some theatrical cunning – bring the evening into a clear and powerful focus."
