THE JACKALOPE PLAYWRIGHTS LAB

This eight-week writing intensive is designed for a class of 8 writers interested in developing new, full-length plays through a workshop development process, and meets virtually on Saturdays 10:00 am-2:00 pm on Zoom. 

  

COST: $200

 

UPCOMING SESSIONS:  FALL 2020 SESSION will run from September 19th through November 7th. 

 

DEADLINE: Applications are due by 11:59 pm on September 12th.

TEACHING ARTIST BIO: 

 

Calamity West is a Chicago-based, award-winning playwright. Her plays have appeared at Williamstown Theatre Festival, Roundabout, The Goodman, Jackalope Theatre, Steep Theatre, TimeLine, and Sideshow Theatre. In 2014 Calamity was recipient of the 3Arts Award. She teaches playwriting at the University of Chicago and Webster University. She is a company member at Jackalope Theatre Company and an ensemble member of Sideshow Theatre Company. Calamity holds a BA in dramatic writing from Webster University and an MFA in creative writing from California College of the Arts. She is represented by ICM Partners. Mosque4Mosque, written in the Summer 2018 Lab, was a runner up for Theatre Viscera's Queer Playwriting Contest and won the National Queer Theater's 2020 Playwriting Contest. It will receive a staged reading at the New Voices Festival.

littlespace, or the daddy play, which was developed in Summer 2019 session, will receive its world premiere production with NoMads Art Collective in May of 2020.
